Development of the CONSTRUCTION WEB Job Brokerage and Training Services

Tue 24 May 2005

One of CONSTRUCTION WEB's main objectives is to co-ordinate and add value to existing provision of construction training across the sub region – in conjunction with our partner delivery agents. The aim is to link those seeking accredited training with the variety of construction trade training available through the existing providers of the FE Colleges, or through the wide variety of CITB accredited provision.

Our role is to act as a primary agency helping any person unemployed (either registered unemployed or not in employment) seeking work or further training. This objective is delivered via our Approved Supplier Status with Job Centre Plus and links with other advice/guidance agencies – such as Reed New Deal, Working Links or local community/voluntary organisations.

This work has been led by our Employment and Training Officer, Bob Noseda, who in March unfortunately moved on to further his career. Our thanks are due to Bob who has over the last 6 months been the hub of our core role of acting as the main link to advise and secure further training opportunities with construction employers or a variety of training providers in the area. Due to Bob’s work, we are now helping over 200 economically inactive adults from the NE London sub region through preparing Individual Action Plans and then securing further training opportunities. A key component of this work is to provide help and resources to individuals to take the essential CITB- Construction Skills CSCC card Health & Safety test – a prerequisite now for any new entrant or existing employee who hopes to work on a building site.
