Thursday 19th January 2006 – Golden Tulip Hotel, Manchester
Designing a project application from need identification through to project proposal
stage. This SmartShop will be suitable for any organisation making applications under ERDF, alternative
ESF and Co-Financing.
The SmartShop will help your organisation understand and identify the linkages between your
project idea and the commissioning document, giving you the best possible chance
of success.
SmartShop Content:
Designing projects, especially those funded through the Objective, 2 and 3 Programmes
can be complex taking into account regional, local and individual needs. Whilst
much of the jargon has been removed from the Co-financing route, CFOs still look
for clearly articulated project content, aimed at addressing the priorities of
the Commissioning document. Whether the project is at strategic or individual
level, the process of good project design is essential when it comes to writing
effective funding bids.
This one-day SmartShop is aimed at all organisations involved in the Structural Fund Programmes either
through co-financing routes or as direct applicants to Government Offices and
will be suitable for delegates who are new to the subject area or wish to improve
their own, or their organisation's, expertise.
The SmartShop will cover:
- The planning cycle – from concept to content
- Identifying and meeting the needs of the various stakeholders
- Project scoping – managing expectations and maintaining delivery realism
- Objective setting and initial task breakdown
- Tips and tools for supporting the application process
Facilitators:
The SmartShop will be led by Anne Eastwood and co-facilitated by Simon Feneley.
Anne has been able to combine her practical experience as a project manager with the
in-depth knowledge of European funding and its technicalities gained over the
last 10 years through the TEC, FE and HE sectors. During this time she has been
involved in project development, delivery and evaluation and now works as a freelance
contractor providing support to a range of organisations involved in community
and economic regeneration.
Simon is the Deputy Chief Executive of EMFEC, an East Midlands based organisation that
provides support to providers of education and training for the post-14 sector.
Prior to this he was the External Funding Manager for New College Nottingham and
has extensive experience of developing and managing European and other externally
funded activity.
